Step 2: Know your audience

Between your website, your social media platforms, your brick and mortar (if that is the case), this is your stage. Your audience is listening. The curtain rises. Don’t get caught with stage fright, unprepared, or worse, tone deaf.

If you are in the process of starting your business, rebranding, or reigniting your marketing efforts, have you considered:

  • What your competitors are doing?

  • Have you researched market trends?

  • Have you researched your consumer profiles?

  • Identified opportunities in the market to position yourself (your edge)?

  • Regulations both in your state and federal?

Take a moment, and put on your consumer goggles.

  • How would you like to be spoken to?

  • What method of interaction would attract your attention?

  • It isn’t always about selling a product.

  • It’s about evoking emotion.

  • It’s also about repetition.

  • It’s also about repetition.

  • It’s also about repetition.

This is a good place to start, but not all encompassing. The key thing to remember when marketing to your consumers is they are people like you. While aggressive sales tactics can be effective, is this the method that works for you?

Entrepreneurs all have many things in common, and thinking outside the box is certainly one of them. And while this is key for entrepreneurial vision, feedback and think tanks cannot be overlooked.
